AI and privacy — The Plan Before the Plan

The short version
The Plan Before the Plan is an AI-assisted reflection and planning tool provided by The Midlife Renaissance. This page explains what happens to the words you type.
Your conversation is displayed in your browser tab. The Midlife Renaissance does not add it to your customer account or intentionally save it in its own database.
To generate replies, the conversation is sent through our protected Cloudflare Worker to Anthropic’s Claude API.
Under Anthropic’s standard API terms, inputs and outputs are normally deleted from Anthropic’s systems within 30 days.
Anthropic says flagged Usage Policy content may be retained for up to two years, with related trust-and-safety classification scores retained for up to seven years. Different retention may also apply where required by law or agreed in writing.
Anthropic says commercial API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the commercial customer explicitly opts in or submits feedback.
Avoid entering names, addresses, account numbers, passwords, medical record numbers, or other identifying or highly sensitive information.
What is processed
When you use the tool, the following information may be processed:
the words you type;
the replies generated during the current conversation, because earlier messages are sent again to give the AI conversational context;
technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as timestamps, network information, and security or error metadata; and
a pseudonymous customer key and request counters used to confirm access and enforce usage limits.
The signed access token does not contain your name or email address. The usage limiter does not receive or store conversation text. Its pseudonymous counters are scheduled for automatic deletion after 32 days without use.
Who receives the conversation
The conversation is processed by:
Cloudflare, which operates the protected Worker that validates customer access, enforces usage limits, and forwards the conversation; and
Anthropic, which operates the Claude API and generates the reply.
The Worker is designed not to log or write conversation bodies to application storage. Infrastructure providers may still process technical and security information under their own terms and legal obligations.
Anthropic retention and model training
Anthropic’s current standard policy for commercial API use says inputs and outputs are automatically deleted from its backend within 30 days, unless Anthropic and the API customer have agreed otherwise, retention is required to enforce Anthropic’s Usage Policy, or retention is required by law.
Anthropic currently says inputs and outputs flagged for a Usage Policy violation may be retained for up to two years and related trust-and-safety classification scores for up to seven years.
Anthropic also states that it does not use inputs or outputs from commercial products to train its models by default. This may differ if the commercial customer explicitly opts into training or submits feedback. The Midlife Renaissance does not provide an in-tool Anthropic feedback feature and will not intentionally opt this tool into model training without updating this notice.

What The Midlife Renaissance retains
The Midlife Renaissance retains the WooCommerce account, order, and purchase records needed to provide customer access and meet ordinary business, tax, fraud-prevention, and legal obligations. Those records are handled under the main website privacy policy.
The Plan Before the Plan does not create a conversation history in your account. Refreshing or closing the tool removes the displayed conversation from the page, but it does not shorten any temporary processing or retention already performed by infrastructure providers as described above.
Your choices
You decide what to share. You can use general descriptions instead of names or identifying details, stop at any time, or choose not to use the AI tool. Closing the page ends the current on-screen conversation.
AI replies can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable. The tool is not therapy, medical care, legal advice, financial advice, or an emergency service. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for an important decision.
